SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)

Preservation of important farmlands. For the purposes of receiving federal funds, authorizes state agencies and local governments, with the cooperation of the United States Department of Agriculture, to designate state and locally important soils, which include prime, unique, and locally important farmland. The bill also defines farmland, prime farmland and unique farmland. In addition, the bill requires landowner consent for individual participation in any state program that is based on such designation.
