SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Dog fighting. Adds possessing, owning, training, transporting, or selling dogs for the purpose of dogfighting to the dogfighting prohibitions. These acts are Class 6 felonies, as are the acts currently included in the dogfighting section. Any person who violates the dogfighting statute is required to pay the costs incurred in housing or euthanizing the confiscated dogs. The bill also prohibits attendance at dogfighting events and subjects violators to a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Animal fighting. Adds possessing, owning, training, transporting, or selling dogs for the purpose of dogfighting to the dogfighting prohibitions. These acts are Class 6 felonies, as are the acts currently included in the dogfighting section. This bill also prohibits cockfighting and animal fighting, and prohibits possessing, owning, training, transporting, and selling animals for the purpose of fighting. This bill prohibits possessing, owning, manufacturing, transporting, and selling cockfighting equipment. Hosting or attending animal fights is prohibited. The penalty for violating the cockfighting statute is raised from a Class 3 misdemeanor to a Class 1 misdemeanor.
