SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Referendum in Page County on election of the county chairman from the county at large. Provides that on or before August 15, 2003, the circuit court for Page County shall order a referendum to be held on the question of whether the qualified voters of the county shall elect a chairman of the board of supervisors from the county at large to serve as chairman and as an additional member of the board. The referendum shall be held at the time of the 2003 November general election. If a majority of the voters voting in the referendum vote in favor of the election of a chairman at large, the first election for a chairman shall be held at the November 2004 general election, and the candidate elected shall serve for a term of 3 years. Thereafter, the chairman shall be elected for a 4-year term beginning with the November 2007 general election.
