SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Higher education; reduction in force. Prohibits public institutions of higher education terminating the employment of or failing to renew the employment contracts of individuals in full-time faculty positions within a particular academic discipline or department on the grounds of reduction in force due to lack of funding, regardless of whether such positions may provide eligibility for tenure, from hiring additional "replacement" full- or part-time faculty within the same academic discipline or department for 3 calendar years from the date of each such nonrenewal or termination of employment without first offering such position, at the same salary and under the same terms as offered to other applicants, to the terminated faculty employee.
