Dogs that injure (i) dogs owned by the same person, (ii) dogs engaged in lawful hunting, or (iii) dogs participating in an organized, lawful handling event are excluded. In localities that regulate dangerous dogs, owners of dogs found to be dangerous must obtain a special registration certificate, confine the dog in a specified way, and follow other requirements.
