Whereas, John O. Marsh has served the Commonwealth and the nation with exceptional dedication and distinction as a public official and in a variety of leadership positions; and

Whereas, Mr. Marsh was elected to Congress from Virginia's Seventh Congressional District and served in the House of Representatives from 1963 until 1971; and

Whereas, Mr. Marsh served as National Security Advisor to Vice President Ford, then as a cabinet-rank counselor to President Ford; and

Whereas, President Reagan appointed John Marsh Secretary of the Army, where he served the longest tenure by an Army Secretary in the nation's history; and

Whereas, the General Assembly, during the 2002 Session, recognized Mr. Marsh's accomplishments by passing a joint resolution commending him on his extensive record of public service; now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the new state park, to be located on a site in the Seven Bends area of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, authorized by the 2002 General Obligation Bond, shall be designated as the John O. Marsh State Park.
