Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 65.2-500.1, as follows:

§ 65.2-500.1. Payment of benefits to professional football players.

If a professional football player employed by a professional sports franchise is injured in the performance of his services under a contract of hire and becomes entitled to workers' compensation benefits payable by his employer under this title, such workers' compensation benefits shall be reduced or offset on a dollar-for-dollar basis by the total amount of injury benefits or wages paid to the professional football player by his employer after the date of injury under any contract or collective bargaining agreement. Injury benefits or wages paid under a contract or collective bargaining agreement shall include, without limitation, any one or more of the following: (i) wages or benefits paid or payable; (ii) injured reserve pay; (iii) grievance or settlement payments; and (iv) other payments made by the employer pursuant to any contract or agreement whatsoever.
