HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 877
Commending Christopher Ledbetter.

WHEREAS, the White Pines subdivision in Caroline County, near the Town of Bowling Green, is the kind of community where residents take an active interest in the welfare of their neighbors; and

WHEREAS, one such resident, Christopher Ledbetter, a 12-year-old middle school student, is an outstanding example; and

WHEREAS, on the afternoon of November 21, 2002, Christopher Ledbetter heard a loud noise coming from the house of a 90-year-old neighbor who lives alone; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Ledbetter investigated the noise and discovered that the neighbor had left the engine of her car running, setting off the carbon monoxide detector in her garage; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Ledbetter and the neighbor immediately turned off the engine and opened doors and windows to disperse the deadly gas; and

WHEREAS, thanks to the alertness, quick thinking, and caring attitude of Christopher Ledbetter, a tragedy was averted and a neighbor's life was spared; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Christopher Ledbetter for his courage and generosity; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Christopher Ledbetter as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and gratitude for his actions.
