HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 834
Commending Eileen Milby Buckley.

WHEREAS, Eileen Milby Buckley of McLean, associated with the Fraternal Order of Police for 30 years, has become the first woman and the first person from Virginia to be elected national president of the Grand Lodge Fraternal Order of Police Associates; and

WHEREAS, the Fraternal Order of Police Associates (FOPA), the civilian affiliate of the Fraternal Order of Police, counts as its members the friends and families of law-enforcement officers, business people, professionals, and citizens from all walks of life who support law-enforcement agencies on the local, state, and national levels; and

WHEREAS, the goals of the FOPA include increasing understanding of the rights, duties, and problems of law-enforcement officers, fostering respect for them, and bettering the conditions under which they serve society; and

WHEREAS, Eileen Buckley began her association with the Fraternal Order of Police as an associate member of Jerald F. Young Lodge DC1 in 1972; and

WHEREAS, a member of NOVA Lodge 35 since 1991, Eileen Buckley served the lodge as trustee, vice president, and president; and

WHEREAS, on the state level, Eileen Buckley served the Virginia FOPA as sergeant-at-arms and as president; and

WHEREAS, Eileen Buckley also served as secretary of the Northern Virginia Chapter Board of Easter Seals and is a lifetime member of the Washington Area Police Emerald Society, which selected her as Member of the Year in 1988; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Eileen Milby Buckley on her leadership role with the Fraternal Order of Police Associates; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Eileen Milby Buckley as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her dedication to the Commonwealth's and the nation's law-enforcement officers.
