039566816WHEREAS, the boys' track and field team from Powell Valley High School in Big Stone Gap captured the 2002 Virginia High School League Group A state championship; and
WHEREAS, the Vikings were led by four outstanding individual performances, one of them by T. J. Hamler; and
WHEREAS, T. J. Hamler showed great resolve in recovering from a disappointing finish in the 2001 state meet to defeat a strong field in the 300-meter hurdles; and
WHEREAS, posting an outstanding time of 40.3 seconds, T. J. Hamler won the 2002 300-meter hurdles state championship; and
WHEREAS, T. J. Hamler's triumphant performance is a tribute to his talent and perseverance and was a crucial part of the Vikings' team Group A state championship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend T. J. Hamler on his individual state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to T. J. Hamler as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and best wishes for continued success.
