Commending the Herndon Moose Lodge.

WHEREAS, for 30 years, the members of the Herndon Moose Lodge, No. 2274, have contributed to improving the quality of life of the citizens of the Herndon community; and

WHEREAS, founded on April 30, 1972, the Herndon Moose Lodge was the fourth Loyal Order of Moose lodge in Virginia to be established during the national organization's "Go Getter" campaign to increase membership; and

WHEREAS, from its initial membership of 150 in 1972, the Herndon Moose Lodge has grown to its current roster of 396 active and dedicated members; and

WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Herndon Moose Lodge has been active in the Herndon community, supporting Herndon youth sports programs, funding scholarships for Herndon High School students, participating in drug awareness campaigns, and donating to the Special Olympics; and

WHEREAS, in addition, the members of the Herndon Moose Lodge support the efforts of the national Loyal Order of Moose to provide care for its seniors at Moose Haven in Florida and for its children at Moose Heart in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, through the selfless, energetic, and sustained activities of its members, the Herndon Moose Lodge has firmly established itself as a valued part of the Herndon community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Herndon Moose Lodge on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to members of the Herndon Moose Lodge as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for their manifold contributions to their community.
