Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 51.1-141.1 as follows:
§ 51.1-141.1. Creditable service for certain teachers.
Any licensed instructional employee who accepts full-time employment in a public school that has been accredited with warning for the immediately preceding 2 consecutive years, as provided in Board of Education regulations for the accreditation of public schools, and completes 3 consecutive years' satisfactory service in such school, shall be entitled to 3 additional years' creditable service.
For the purposes of this section, "satisfactory service" means, in the case of a licensed instructional employee serving a probationary term pursuant to § 22.1-303, that such employee received satisfactory annual performance evaluations in such years served, and, in the case of a licensed instructional employee who has achieved continuing contract status, that such employee received satisfactory performance evaluations and continuation of such status for good behavior and competent service, as provided in § 22.1-304, during such service.
