Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 22.1-291.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 22.1-291.1. Planning time for school teachers.

Each school board shall seek to ensure that all elementary school teachers in its employment are provided at least three hours one unencumbered planning period during the students' school week as planning time. The Commonwealth shall bear the cost of such planning period, as provided in the appropriation act.
