CHAPTER 925
An Act to amend and reenact §§ 46.2-746.7, 46.2-746.8, 46.2-746.9, and 46.2-749.4 of the Code of Virginia, and to amend the Code of Virginia by adding sections numbered 46.2-749.5:1, 46.2-749.28:1, 46.2-749.73:1, and by adding in Article 10 of Chapter 6 of Title 46.2 sections numbered 46.2-749.84 through 46.2-749.88, relating to special license plates; members of the Special Forces Association; seals, symbols, emblems, or logotypes of localities; members of Job's Daughters; members of the Police Benevolent Association; medical doctors; teachers; Virginia's coal mining heritage; Langley Air Force Base; supporters of the Washington Capitals hockey team; members and supporters of the YMCAs of Virginia; members of the Izaak Walton League; members and achievements of the Civilian Conservation Corps; the national motto: "In God We Trust"; and multiple sclerosis.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That §§ 46.2-746.7, 46.2-746.8, 46.2-746.9, and 46.2-749.4 of the Code of Virginia are amended and reenacted, and that the Code of Virginia is amended by adding sections numbered 46.2-749.5:1, 46.2-749.28:1, 46.2-749.73:1, and by adding in Article 10 of Chapter 6 of Title 46.2 sections numbered 46.2-749.84 through 46.2-749.88 as follows:

§ 46.2-746.7. Special license plates for members of certain civic and fraternal organizations.

On receipt of an application and written evidence that the applicant is a member of such organization, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates to members of the following organizations: the Exchange Club, the Jaycees, Job's Daughters, the Kiwanis, the Lions of Virginia, Optimist International, Rotary International, Ruritan National, the Freemasons, the Shriners, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Knights of Columbus, and college and university fraternities and sororities.

§ 46.2-746.8. Special license plates for members of certain occupational associations.

On receipt of an application and written evidence that the applicant is a member of such organization, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates to members of the following organizations: the Police Benevolent Association, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Fraternal Order of Police, the International Association of Firefighters, the Association of Realtors, and the Society of Certified Public Accountants.

§ 46.2-746.9. Special license plates for certain occupations.

On receipt of an application and written evidence that the applicant is a printer, magistrate, medical doctor, teacher, pharmacist, registered nurse, general registrar, or postmaster, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates to the applicant.

§ 46.2-749.4. Special license plates bearing the seal, symbol, emblem, or logotype of certain localities.

On receipt of a minimum of 350 paid applications therefor, the Commissioner may design and issue special license plates whose design incorporates the seal, symbol, emblem, or logotype of any county, city or town. If all affected localities agree as to its design, the Commissioner may design and issue special license plates jointly for more than one locality.

The annual fee for plates issued pursuant to this section shall be twenty-five dollars $25 plus the prescribed fee for state license plates. For each such twenty-five-dollar $25 fee collected in excess of 1,000 registrations pursuant to this section, fifteen dollars $15 shall be paid to the locality whose seal, symbol, emblem, or logotype appears on the plate. These funds shall be paid to the affected localities annually and may be used as provided by the local governing body. For license plate issued jointly for more than one locality, these funds shall be apportioned among the affected localities as agreed to with the Commissioner prior to issue.

§ 46.2-749.5:1. Special license plates celebrating Virginia's coal mining heritage.

On receipt of an application therefor, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates celebrating Virginia's coal mining heritage.

§ 46.2-749.28:1. Special license plates; Langley Air Force Base.

On receipt of an application therefor, the Commissioner shall issue to the applicant special license plates bearing the legend: LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE.

§ 46.2-749.73:1. Special license plates; supporters of the Washington Capitals hockey team.

On receipt of an application therefor, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates to supporters of the Washington Capitals hockey team.

§ 46.2-749.84. Special license plates; members and supporters of the YMCAs of Virginia.

On receipt of an application therefor, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates to members and supporters of the YMCAs of Virginia.

§ 46.2-749.85. Special license plates; Members of the Izaak Walton League.

On receipt of an application therefor and presentation of written evidence that the applicant is a member, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates to members of the Izaak Walton League.

§ 46.2-749.86. Special license plates commemorating the members and achievements of the Civilian Conservation Corps.

On receipt of an application therefor, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates commemorating the members and achievements of the Civilian Conservation Corps.

§ 46.2-749.87. Special license plates; national motto.

On receipt of an application therefor, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates bearing the national motto: "IN GOD WE TRUST."

§ 46.2-749.88. Special license plates; multiple sclerosis.

On receipt of an application therefor, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates bearing the legend: MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS.
