CHAPTER 647 An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 32.1-134.01, relating to perinatal information in hospitals providing maternity care. [H 2310] Approved March 18, 2003

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 32.1-134.01 as follows:

§ 32.1-134.01. Perinatal information in hospitals providing maternity care.

Every licensed nurse midwife or hospital providing maternity care shall, prior to releasing each maternity patient, make available to such patient and relevant family members information about the incidence of postpartum blues and perinatal depression. This information shall be discussed with the maternity patient.
