SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Landfill closure requirements; exception. Creates exception from landfill closure requirements for municipal solid waste landfills utilizing double synthetic liner systems pursuant to permits issued between December 21, 1988, and October 9, 1993. Currently, no municipal solid waste landfill can continue to accept waste after 2020 unless equipped with the new liner system pursuant to a permit issued by the Department of Environmental Quality after October 9, 1993. The bill would allow the Wise County landfill to accept waste after 2020.
