021929444WHEREAS, VALS... the association for legal professionals, with 11 chapters throughout the Commonwealth, is comprised of attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, legal secretaries, clerks of court, and other professionals who serve as legal support staff; and
WHEREAS, many of the members of VALS fall outside the parameters for "Secretary's Day" and "Legal Assistant's Day"; and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States proclaimed the second full week of October as "Court Observance Week" in 1976; and
WHEREAS, as part of this annual observance, it is entirely appropriate that legal professionals, so important to the efficient functioning of the nation's legal system, be recognized for their dedication to their profession; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby designate the Wednesday of the second full week of October, in 2002 and in each succeeding year, as Legal Professionals' Day in Virginia; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the President of VALS...the association for legal professionals in recognition of the many contributions of legal professionals in the Commonwealth.
