SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 107
Commending Christian Fellowship Church.

WHEREAS, Christian Fellowship Church was founded in February 1977, when Pastor James Ahlemann, his family, and a small group of friends held services in Northern Virginia; and

WHEREAS, after three years of holding services in a school, Christian Fellowship Church moved to its first permanent facility on Leesburg Pike near Reston; and

WHEREAS, the rapidly growing congregation of Christian Fellowship Church moved to Ashburn in 1994 and will celebrate its 25th anniversary on February 24, 2002, by holding services in its new 2,500-seat Worship Center; and

WHEREAS, now one of the largest congregations in the Washington metropolitan area, Christian Fellowship Church comprises 22 acres in Loudoun County and includes a Christian School, Sunday School, youth and children's facilities, a gymnasium, and facilities to serve children, youth, adults, and seniors; and

WHEREAS, an independent, interdenominational church, Christian Fellowship Church has expanded its services and ministries to keep pace with its rapidly growing congregation; and

WHEREAS, Christian Fellowship Church offers ministries directed at men, women, senior adults, single adults, high-school students, and those of Hispanic heritage, among many others; and

WHEREAS, Christian Fellowship Church also administers the Christian Fellowship School, accredited since 1991 by the Association of Christian Schools International and offering programs for students from preschool through grade 10; and

WHEREAS, through its Share and Care Ministry, Christian Fellowship Church helps people in times of need by distributing food and clothing and offering financial assistance; and

WHEREAS, the congregation of Christian Fellowship Church can look back with pride on its 25 years of achievement and look forward with anticipation to continued growth and success in meeting the spiritual needs of the citizens of Western Fairfax and Loudoun Counties; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Christian Fellowship Church on the occasion of its silver anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Pastor James Ahlemann as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and best wishes for the future.
