WHEREAS, Myrtle Leigh Jones Craddock of Charles City, a devoted member of Little Elam Baptist Church for more than 50 years, died on February 19, 2002; and

WHEREAS, since 1952, Myrtle Craddock shared her musical talent with singing groups from churches throughout the Richmond metropolitan area; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Craddock served as pianist for the Angel View Youth Choir of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Second Liberty Senior Choir of New Kent; with the Charles City Prayer Band, the Jerusalem Senior Choir, and the Mt. Zion Youth Choir of Charles City; and with the Harrison Grove Senior and Combined Choirs of Prince George; and

WHEREAS, at the time of her illness, Myrtle Craddock was in her 50th year of service as pianist for the Bradby Memorial Gospel Chorus of Little Elam Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Craddock, a loving and devoted wife and the mother of 12 children, also found the time to serve as executive assistant at the Quin Rivers Agency for Community Action and as a Meals on Wheels volunteer; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Craddock will be sorely missed by her large and loving family, by the parishioners of Little Elam Baptist Church, and by her countless friends and admirers in the Charles City community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an outstanding Virginian, Myrtle Leigh Jones Craddock; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Myrtle Leigh Jones Craddock as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
