WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, terrorists launched a violent attack on the United States, causing great destruction and horrible human suffering in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the attack had a devastating effect in Virginia, home of the Pentagon and of many of the people killed, injured, or missing; and

WHEREAS, among the victims of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City was Leonard Anthony White, a native of Norfolk and a Verizon technician at the World Trade Center; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Anthony White was a 30-year veteran of service with Verizon who was on the 110th floor of the World Trade Center's north tower when it was hit by American Airlines Flight 11; and

WHEREAS, a native of Norfolk, Leonard Anthony White, who once studied ballet and modern dance, had retained his love for the arts; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Anthony White will be missed by his loving family in Norfolk and by his many friends, colleagues, and admirers in New York and Virginia; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the loss of Leonard Anthony White, an innocent victim of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Leonard Anthony White as an expression of the heartfelt condolences of the General Assembly of Virginia.
