WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, terrorists launched an inexcusable attack on the United States, causing great destruction and horrible human suffering in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the attack had a devastating effect in Virginia, home of the Pentagon and of many of the personnel, military and civilian, who served there; and

WHEREAS, among the victims of the Pentagon attack was Marjorie C. Salamone of Springfield, a civilian budget analyst for the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, a native of the small town of Pine Mountain, Georgia, Marjorie Salamone, who had been employed at the Pentagon for 10 years, had moved into her new office only three weeks before the attack; and

WHEREAS, an exceedingly popular neighbor and friend to many, Marjorie Salamone is fondly remembered by her family and friends for her warmth, kindness, and generosity; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Marjorie C. Salamone, an innocent victim of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Marjorie C. Salamone as an expression of the heartfelt condolences of the General Assembly of Virginia.
