WHEREAS, the cheering squad from Portsmouth's I. C. Norcom High School recently won the CIAA Cheerleading Competition; and
WHEREAS, the I. C. Norcom Greyhounds defeated the cheerleaders from Lake Taylor High School, who have won the past two Eastern District tournament championships; and
WHEREAS, the victorious I. C. Norcom competition team is composed of 20 members of the varsity and junior varsity cheering squads and includes 10 seniors, five juniors, four sophomores, and one freshman; and
WHEREAS, hard work, determination, and a desire to succeed led to the triumph of the I. C. Norcom team, which worked with an elite cheerleading squad from Pittsburgh in preparation for the CIAA competition; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of coaches Natalie Baker and Kimberly Orton-Jones, the Norcom Greyhounds overcame a disappointing performance last year to capture a championship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the I. C. Norcom High School cheering squad on its impressive victory in the CIAA Cheerleading Competition; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to coaches Natalie Baker and Kimberly Orton-Jones as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and best wishes for continued success.
