WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, terrorists launched an inexcusable attack on the United States, causing great destruction and horrible human suffering in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the attack had a devastating effect in Virginia, home of the Pentagon and of many of the personnel, military and civilian, who served there; and

WHEREAS, among the victims of the Pentagon attack was Karl W. Teepe of Centreville, a retired Air Force officer and a civilian employee of the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon; and

WHEREAS, a native of St. Louis, Karl Teepe was a budget analyst and family man who, in 2001, saw his daughter, Wendy, get married and his son, Adam, graduate from college; and

WHEREAS, Karl Teepe was fond of the Washington area's cultural attractions, was interested in painting and sculpture, and enjoyed making his home beautiful; and

WHEREAS, Karl Teepe will be missed by his large and loving family, many of whom journeyed from Southern California to attend the Pentagon memorial service and honor the memory of Karl W. Teepe; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Karl W. Teepe, an innocent victim of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Karl W. Teepe as an expression of the heartfelt condolences of the General Assembly of Virginia.
