020924448WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, terrorists launched a violent attack on the United States, causing great destruction and horrible human suffering in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the attack had a devastating effect in Virginia, home of the Pentagon and of many of the personnel, military and civilian, who served there; and
WHEREAS, among the victims of the Pentagon attack was Leonard E. Taylor of Reston, a passenger on American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon on September 11; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Taylor was a technical group manager for XonTech in Arlington, a research and development firm specializing in sensor technologies for defense and industry, and was traveling to a business meeting in California; and
WHEREAS, a former amateur hockey player, Leonard Taylor was an enthusiastic cyclist, often riding his bike 30 miles round trip from home to work and participating in charity events; and
WHEREAS, a native of California and a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Leonard Taylor was married and the father of two young daughters; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the loss of Leonard E. Taylor, an innocent victim of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Leonard E. Taylor as an expression of the heartfelt condolences of the General Assembly of Virginia.
