2002 SESSION
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. Each board of supervisors of any county and each city or town council in the Commonwealth may prominently post the National Motto, "’In God We Trust,’ the National Motto, enacted by Congress in 1956”, in a conspicuous place in the primary local government administrative building of the jurisdiction for all citizens to read.
The Office of the Attorney General shall intervene on behalf of local governments and shall provide legal defense of the provisions of this section.
2. Any board of supervisors or city or town council may, at its discretion, accept contributions in cash or in-kind from any person, as defined in § 1-13.19, to defray the costs of implementing this provision.
