2001 SPECIAL SESSION I
013810612WHEREAS, Frederick Stanley Herring, a devoted father and husband and dedicated community leader, died on February 26, 2001, after a lengthy and valiant battle against a rare disease; and
WHEREAS, having grown up in Martinsville, Frederick Stanley Herring graduated from the Carlisle School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and began his professional life in Pulaski County, ultimately returning to Martinsville in 1991 to co-found NEOCOM Microspecialists, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Frederick Stanley Herring's unflagging commitment to the growth and future development of the Martinsville and Henry County communities was evident in his service as marketing committee chairman of the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce and as executive director and board member of The Partnership for Progress, and in his involvement in the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation; and
WHEREAS, memberships in the Martinsville Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, the Southern Regional Tech Council, Christ Episcopal Church, the Virginia Tech Hokie Club, and the Virginia Tech and Carlisle School alumni associations demonstrated Frederick Stanley Herring's dedication to community growth, education and service; and
WHEREAS, Frederick Stanley Herring's courage, positivism and love of family enabled him to combat his illness and to continue the myriad of activities and duties to which he was so dedicated, and also sustained and inspired those around him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the untimely passing of a courageous family man and tireless community leader, Frederick Stanley Herring; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Frederick Stanley Herring as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his life of commitment, service and courage.
