SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE: (all summaries)

Line of Duty Act; definition of disabled employee. Amends the definition of “disabled employee” to include any person who has become mentally or physically incapacitated on or after April 8, 1972, as a direct or proximate result of the performance of his duty. The health care claim payments for such disabled employee or his qualifying dependents will be retroactive to the later of the first date of disability or July 1, 2000. The provisions of the bill will not become effective unless an appropriation effectuating the purposes of this act is included in the 2001 Appropriations Act, passed during the 2001 Session of the General Assembly and signed into law by the Governor.
