Introduced by: Frank M. Ruff | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)
Siting of landfills. Authorizes Mecklenburg County to construct a landfill closer to an existing water supply intake or reservoir than is currently allowed by law, if the Director of DEQ finds that the distance would not be detrimental to human health and the environment. The bill also provides that a new landfill in Mecklenburg County may be sited in a wetland. Currently, a landfill cannot be within five miles upgradient of any water supply intake or reservoir and cannot impact 1.25 acres or more of wetlands. This bill is identical to HB 2667.
