SUMMARY AS ENACTED WITH GOVERNOR'S RECOMMENDATION:

Applications by ill or disabled voters for absentee ballots for multiple elections. Provides for the filing of one application by an ill or disabled voter for all elections in one calendar year. The general registrar will send such voters an application in advance of each calendar year. Present law requires a separate absentee ballot application to be filed for each election. The State Board of Elections is required to monitor and report on the use of the new procedure beginning July 1, 2002. This bill is the same as HB 1579.

Permanent absentee ballot application for permanently ill or disabled voters. Provides for the filing of one application by a voter who is permanently ill or disabled and unable to vote at the polls for absentee ballots for all future elections in which he is eligible to vote.
