SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:

Virginia Juvenile Justice Information System. Clarifies that identifying information from this data system only as allowed in § 16.1-300.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Virginia Juvenile Justice Information System. Abolishes this confidential information system that was established in the Department of Juvenile Justice in 1976 and that required juvenile and domestic relations district courts to submit data on persons referred to an intake officer of a court services unit and to submit reports of final dispositions. According to some local governments, the information system is antiquated and § 16.1-300 (Confidentiality of Department of Juvenile Justice records) provides a more efficient and modern method of sharing information.
