SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Study; protection and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. Directs the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission to study the effectiveness, independence and accountability of the Department for Rights of Virginians with Disabilities (DRVD) in carrying out its protection and advocacy functions and statutory duties. The study shall include, but not be limited to, an assessment of how DRVD meets its statutory mandate to protect and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and a review of the structures of protection and advocacy systems in other states.
