SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Income tax; additional deduction for dependents under the age of thirteen. Allows taxpayers an additional $200 deduction when calculating their Virginia taxable income for taxable years beginning on and after January 1, 2001, for each dependent who is under the age of thirteen and for whom the taxpayer is allowed a personal exemption on their state and federal income tax returns. The bill also removes the portion of the expenses incurred for the care of such dependents from the deduction allowed for employment-related expenses. Finally, it deletes obsolete language which expired at the end of 1987.
