HB 2687 Suffolk school board salary increase.
Introduced by: Lionell Spruill, Sr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Suffolk school board salary increase. Authorizes the school board of the City of Suffolk to establish an increase in its member salaries effective in 2001 by providing a one-time exemption from the statutory requirement that a local school board representing a city or town may establish a salary increase prior to December 31 in any year preceding a year in which members are to be elected or appointed. Currently, such increase shall become effective on July 1 of the year in which the election or appointment occurs.
Although the 2000 Session increased the maximum salary for Suffolk school board members, the school board will not have an election until 2002. Under current law, an increase could be established by December 31, 2001, but would not be effective until July of 2002.
