SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Small claims court. Creates an exception to the general provision that a defendant may not be represented by an attorney in small claims court by allowing an attorney to appear on behalf of a defendant on the first return date for the limited purpose of removing the case to general district court before the trial starts. This bill is a recommendation of the Committee on District Courts. This bill was incorporated into HB 1849.
