Celebrating the life of Sandra Lavaughn Hughes Cason.

WHEREAS, Sandra Lavaughn Hughes Cason of Virginia Beach, the assistant principal of Rosemont Middle School in Norfolk, died on May 28, 2000; and

WHEREAS, a native of Norfolk, Sandra Cason was the daughter of Clara Hughes Hill and the late Eugene Sweat; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Cason graduated from Norfolk State University and earned her master’s degree from Old Dominion University; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Cason was a faithful member of New Hope Church of God in Christ and was active in many church activities, including Mass Choir, the Young Adult Choir, and the Wedding Committee; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated and highly respected educator, Sandra Cason leaves a lasting legacy of service to the young people of Hampton Roads and to the parishioners of New Hope Church of God in Christ; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the untimely passing of a fine citizen of the Commonwealth, Sandra Lavaughn Hughes Cason; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Sandra Lavaughn Hughes Cason as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
