On the death of Thomas Clarence Hise.

WHEREAS, Thomas Clarence Hise of Virginia Beach, a veteran of service in the United States Navy and a well-known local military historian and collector of military memorabilia, died on December 13, 2000; and

WHEREAS, a native of Bluefield, West Virginia, Tom Hise joined the Navy at age 15 and served his country on active duty for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, upon retirement from the Navy, Tom Hise embarked on a second career as a Navy Exchange manager, a position that took him and his family to naval installations worldwide; and

WHEREAS, following 20 years of exemplary service, Tom Hise retired from the Navy Exchange Resale System and began his third career as a private business owner; and

WHEREAS, the owner of T&R Hise Uniform and Tailoring and Tom's Military Museum, Tom Hise was a popular and highly respected military historian and collector of military memorabilia; and

WHEREAS, among his many activities, Tom Hise was an active member of the Tidewater Coin Club; and

WHEREAS, Tom Hise will be missed by his large and loving family and his numerous friends, colleagues, and admirers in the Tidewater community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine Virginian, Thomas Clarence Hise; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Thomas Clarence Hise as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
