Celebrating the life of Nancy C. Holmes.

WHEREAS, Nancy C. Holmes of Chesapeake, a retired teacher’s aide for the Norfolk public schools, died on October 12, 2000; and

WHEREAS, a native of Norfolk, Nancy Holmes was the widow of William Holmes and the matriarch of a large family that includes four children, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Holmes was an active and devoted member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk, where she served on the Usher Board; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Holmes was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the I.B.P.O. Elks of the World, Inc., and the Daughters of Isis Arabian Temple No. 12; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Holmes will be missed by her large and loving family, her many friends in the Hampton Roads community, and the parishioners of New Calvary Baptist Church; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine Virginian, Nancy C. Holmes; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Nancy C. Holmes as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
