2001 SESSION
WHEREAS, Dr. Mary Magelean Grant Wynn of Chesapeake, a former middle school teacher with the Suffolk public schools, died on March 13, 2000; and
WHEREAS, a native of Courtland, Dr. Wynn was the daughter of the late Troy and Louisa Grant; and
WHEREAS, a devoted middle school teacher in Suffolk for 18 years, Dr. Wynn served as president of the executive board of the Suffolk Education Association; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Wynn was the founder of Parental Involvement Corp., which sponsored “Parents Are Special” workshops and radio broadcasts; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Wynn was an active and devoted member of Greater Mount Zion Tabernacle, Church of God in Christ in Portsmouth for more than 50 years; and
WHEREAS, among her many church activities, Dr. Wynn served as a missionary and a youth leader; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mary Magelean Grant Wynn will be missed by her large and loving family, the parishioners of Greater Mount Zion Tabernacle, Church of God in Christ, her legion of former students, and her many friends and colleagues in the Hampton Roads area; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the passing of an exceptional Virginian, Dr. Mary Magelean Grant Wynn; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Dr. Mary Magelean Grant Wynn as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
