Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 15.2-2157.1 as follows:

§ 15.2-2157.1. [ Regulation and inspection of septic tanks in counties Permit for septic tank installation in certain counties ] .

Any county [ with a population between 50,000 and 55,000 according to the 1990 United States Census ] may [ regulate the installation of septic tanks on property located therein, and may ] require any person desiring to install a septic tank to secure a permit to do so. Counties may prescribe reasonable fees [ , not to exceed fifty dollars, ] for the issuance of such permits.
