Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 2.1-548.49 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 2.1-548.49. Creation of Board; membership; terms.
There is hereby created the Small Business Advisory Board. The Board shall
consist of the Chairman of the Small Business Financing Authority and the
Director of the Department of Minority Business Enterprise or their designees
as voting ex officio members; thirteen fourteen voting members appointed by the
Governor and subject to confirmation by the General Assembly; and the Director of the Department of
Business Assistance and the District Director for Virginia of the U.S. Small Business Administration
or their designees as nonvoting ex officio members. The appointed members of
the Board shall represent small businesses as defined by the Small Business
Financing Act (§ 9-197 et seq.). There shall be at least one member appointed
from each congressional district who does business in that district and three
members appointed at large from within the Commonwealth.
Terms of the appointed members shall be for four years except that appointments to fill vacancies shall be for the unexpired terms. No member appointed by the Governor shall serve more than two complete terms in succession.
