Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 37.1-34 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 37.1-34. Board may change names of facilities.

The Board shall have authority to may change the names of hospitals and other facilities operated by the Department on behalf of the Commonwealth.

2. That notwithstanding the discretion of the Board of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services as set forth in § 37.1-34 to change the names of hospitals and facilities for the mentally ill operated by the Department, the Board shall change the name of the DeJarnette Center to the Carrie Buck Center, effective on July 1, 2001.
