CHAPTER 709 An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 2.1-563.40:1, relating to the Virginia Geographic Information Network. [S 1245] Approved March 26, 2001

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 2.1-563.40:1 as follows:

§ 2.1-563.40:1. Nonstock corporation to assist in the development of GIS data.

The Department of Technology Planning is hereby authorized to establish a nonstock corporation under Chapter 10 (§ 13.1-801 et seq.) of Title 13.1 as an instrumentality to assist the Department and the Division in the development and acquisition of geographic data and statewide base map data. On or before December 1 of each year, the Department shall report on the activities of the nonstock corporation to the Governor and the General Assembly.
