CHAPTER 48 An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 2 of Chapter 40.1 of Title 2.1 a section numbered 2.1-639.4:2, relating to the State and Local Government Conflict of Interests Act; exclusion for awards to teachers. [H 1887] Approved March 2, 2001

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 2 of Chapter 40.1 of Title 2.1 a section numbered 2.1-639.4:2 as follows:

§ 2.1-639.4:2. Exclusion of teacher awards from scope of chapter.

The provisions of this chapter shall not be construed to prohibit or apply to the acceptance by a teacher or other employee of a local school board of an award or payment in honor of meritorious or exceptional services performed by the teacher or employee.
