SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Election laws; absentee voting. Permits a person to vote absentee if he will be at his work place for 11 or more hours during the 13 hours that the polls are open on election day.

Election laws; absentee voting. Permits a person to vote absentee if he will be at his work place for 11 or more hours during the 13 hours that the polls are open on election day.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Election laws; time off to vote. Provides that a registered voter is entitled to time off to vote if his work schedule does not afford him at least three hours to vote either before or after his work shift. He is entitled to no more than two hours of time off with pay to get to the polls. Polling times throughout the Commonwealth are from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The bill requires the employee to request time off at least two days in advance of the election and show proof to the employer that he has voted; it also requires employers in the Commonwealth to post notice of the provisions of the bill.
