SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Civil commitment of sexually violent predators. Changes the effective date of the civil commitment process, which was enacted by the 1999 General Assembly, from January 1, 2001, to July 1, 2001. The process provides for the screening and evaluation for civil commitment of prisoners in the custody of the Department of Corrections who were convicted of certain sexual offenses and are nearing the end of their sentences.
