SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Punishment upon conviction of certain criminal sexual acts. Expands the list of those sexual offenses for which a second or subsequent offense is punishable by the maximum amount allowable for the latest offense, none of which is subject to suspension. This change allows a second offense, taken from the list of more serious (life imprisonment) second offenses, to aggravate the punishment of a less serious first offense. The bill also increases the punishment for a second or subsequent offense of taking indecent liberties with children to a Class 5 felony. Currently all such offenses are Class 6 felonies.
