SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Study; seriousness of traffic offenses. Requests the Virginia Departments of State Police, Motor Vehicles and Transportation, together, to study the seriousness of traffic offenses in Virginia. The Departments are requested to: (i) determine the degree to which each motor vehicle traffic offense or violation in Virginia poses a risk of property damage, injury or death, and (ii) develop a system by which those agencies and other agencies can efficiently make such a risk determination in the future. The Departments are asked to complete their work in time to submit their findings and recommendations in 2001 to the Governor, the 2001 Session of the General Assembly, and the Virginia State Crime Commission.
