2000 SESSION
HB 810 Medical records release.
Introduced by: Johnny S. Joannou | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles | history
SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Medical records release. Requires a health care provider to accept a photocopy, facsimile, or other copy of the original document signed by the patient providing authority for the requester to obtain the records, as if the copy was an original document.
SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Medical records release. Requires a health care provider to accept a copy of the original signed request for release of medical records. This bill also adds a higher standard of proof for the decision by a health care provider to refuse to release a patient's record to that patient and would require that the release would have to cause actual harm to the patient's mental or physical health or cause the patient to be an imminent danger to himself or others. Currently, the standard is that release would be injurious to the patient's health or well-being.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
