HB 612 Governor's Substance Abuse Prevention Program, study.

SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Governor's Substance Abuse Prevention Program. Gives the Governor the responsibility to administer the substance abuse prevention program within the Commonwealth and authority to authorize, direct and coordinate activities of state agencies in such program. The bill also provides the Governor with authority to establish an office of substance abuse prevention and to review and determine the direction and appropriateness of substance abuse prevention program expenditures by state agencies. The Governor shall report annually by December 1 of each year to the General Assembly on the activities of the office.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Governor's Drug Abuse Prevention Program. Gives the Governor responsibility to administer the drug abuse prevention program within the Commonwealth and authority to authorize, direct and coordinate existing and future activities of state agencies and political subdivisions in such program. The bill also provides the Governor with authority to establish an office of drug abuse prevention and to review and determine the direction and appropriateness of drug abuse prevention program expenditures by state agencies.
