HB 264 Sales tax exemption; Amherst County Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
Introduced by: L. Preston Bryant, Jr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Sales and use tax exemption; Amherst County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. Provides a sales and use tax exemption for building materials purchased by a federally tax-exempt nonprofit organization, from July 1, 2000, through June 30, 2001, which is organized to build houses to provide housing opportunities to low-income persons, at cost with no-interest mortgages. Under current law, in § 58.1-608.1, this organization is among those that may receive a refund of sales and use taxes paid upon such purchases upon application to the Department of Taxation. The bill eliminates the requirement of such application by exempting the tax at the time of purchase.
